New MKD 1000-S Makes Chocolate Rework More Efficient and Easier to Manage
A New Solution for Chocolate Rework
In many chocolate manufacturing facilities, processing chocolate rework and production-related residual streams is an important part of daily operations. Broken chocolate bars, production surpluses, trial batches and other chocolate products that can be reprocessed often still contain perfectly usable chocolate. Processing these products, however, requires time, space and additional handling, causing valuable raw materials to remain unused longer than necessary.
To make this process more efficient, a new MKD 1000-S installation was recently commissioned at one of our customers. The machine was specifically developed for processing and recovering chocolate rework and combines melting and sieving in one compact solution.

Two Melting Tanks and an Integrated Sieving System
The MKD 1000-S combines two independently operating melting tanks within one compact installation. Both tanks can feed the integrated sieving system, allowing different types of chocolate or chocolate rework to be processed simultaneously without additional equipment or product changeovers. For example, milk chocolate can be melted in one tank while dark chocolate or another type of rework is processed in the second tank. Because both tanks can be controlled independently, a separate wall temperature can be set for each tank. This allows operators to optimise the installation according to the properties of the chocolate or the composition of the rework product.
After melting, the chocolate and inclusion mixture is automatically pumped to the integrated sieving system. There, the chocolate and inclusions are separated.

The separated inclusions are collected separately, while the filtered chocolate can be transferred via a second pump to a collection container, a melting tank or directly to the next stage of production.
Continuous Melting and Sieving for Maximum Efficiency
A major advantage of the installation is that melting and sieving can take place simultaneously. While chocolate is being pumped from one of the tanks to the sieving system, new rework products can continue melting in the same or the second tank. This ensures optimal use of processing time and allows the rework process to run almost continuously.
Depending on the viscosity of the chocolate, the percentage of inclusions and the selected sieve size, the installation can process up to 600 kg of chocolate rework per hour. This allows larger quantities of rework to be efficiently recovered and made available for production again. Thanks to this capacity, the MKD 1000-S is suitable for both artisan chocolatiers and larger production environments where significant quantities of rework are generated on a regular basis.
More Efficient Raw Material Management and a Better Organised Workplace
In addition to its technical advantages, the MKD 1000-S helps chocolate manufacturers make valuable raw materials available for production more quickly. Instead of storing rework products for extended periods, they can be processed and recovered almost immediately. This reduces product losses, improves production efficiency and contributes to a cleaner and better-organised workplace.
With the MKD 1000-S, the customer now has an efficient solution for processing chocolate rework more quickly, recovering valuable raw materials and maintaining a better-organised production environment. The installation perfectly responds to the growing focus on efficiency and raw material management within the chocolate industry.
