MT 80 GPI, MT 80 GPE
Compact chocolate tempering and dosing machine with separate dosing pump
Precise dosing of tempered chocolate requires more than just a good tempering machine. During dosing, the chocolate must remain correctly tempered, while each dose must be precise, repeatable and tailored to the product. Especially when working with different molds, cavities or automated production lines, flexibility in dosing quantity and control is essential.
The MT 80 GPE and MT 80 GPI therefore combine continuous chocolate tempering with a separate dosing circuit in one compact machine. Both versions are based on the MT 80 tempering machine with an electrically heated chocolate tank of approximately 80 kg and are equipped with a second pump that draws already tempered chocolate from the main flow.
The MT 80 GPE can also be equipped with two different types of dosing pumps. As standard, the GPE is fitted with a gear pump. Optionally, a lobe pump with a quick-release front flange can be selected, providing easier access for cleaning while also enabling precise dosing of chocolate containing small inclusions.
This allows the machine to dose precisely without interrupting the continuous main flow of the tempering process. The tempering process continues uninterrupted, while the separate dosing pump can be fully adjusted to the required dose and application.
With adjustable dosing speed, dosing time, suck-back time and pause time, four programmable quick-select speeds and the option to trigger dosing commands manually, automatically or via an external signal, the MT 80 GPE and GPI can be used for a wide range of applications: from manual dosing into polycarbonate molds and hollow figures to integration into fully automated chocolate production lines.
Continuous tempering. Precise dosing. Flexible automation.

Continuous chocolate tempering for consistent product quality
The MT 80 GPE and GPI are based on the continuous tempering system of the MT 80.
The chocolate is first completely melted and maintained at the correct temperature in the electrically heated chocolate tank. The chocolate pump, consisting of a cylinder with an Archimedes screw, draws the liquid chocolate from the tank through a supply pipe to the bottom of the tempering cylinder. The Archimedes screw then transports the chocolate through the cooled cylinder, where controlled crystallization takes place.
After cooling, the chocolate flows through a pipe with a static mixer to the machine outlet. The tempered chocolate can then be used for further processing, while excess chocolate flows back into the heated tank. There, the formed crystals are melted again, after which the chocolate is recirculated through the tempering circuit.
This creates a continuous chocolate flow in which the chocolate is constantly circulated and re-tempered.
Precise chocolate dosing without interrupting the tempering process
The main difference between a standard MT 80 and the MT 80 GPE/GPI is the addition of a second, separate chocolate pump for dosing.
This dosing pump draws tempered chocolate from the main flow and transfers it through a separate pipe to a dosing head or outlet. This means that the main flow of the tempering process does not need to be interrupted during dosing.
While the dosing pump dispenses a preset quantity of chocolate, the chocolate in the main tempering circuit continues to circulate continuously. As a result, tempering and dosing are functionally separated, while both processes take place within a single compact machine.
This system makes the MT 80 GPE and GPI particularly suitable for production processes where both consistent tempering quality and precise, repeatable dosing are important.
Adjustable dosing times and four programmable quick-select speeds
Via the touchscreen, the dosing parameters can easily be adjusted to suit the product and application. By setting the dosing time, the required quantity of chocolate can be precisely matched to, for example, the volume of a mold or cavity.
In addition, a suck-back time can be set. After each dose, the dosing pump can reverse for a preset period, drawing chocolate back from the dosing head or outlet and reducing unwanted dripping between doses.
For applications where frequent switching between different dosing quantities is required, the MT 80 GPE and GPI feature four programmable quick-select buttons. Each button can be preset with its own dosing time. During production, the operator can therefore switch instantly to another preset dose with a single touch of the screen.
This is particularly practical, for example, in the production of hollow figures, where a single chocolate mold may contain different shapes or cavities with varying volumes. Instead of repeatedly opening the settings menu and manually changing the dosing time, the operator can directly select the required preset dose.
Separately heated dosing circuit for tempered chocolate
After tempering, maintaining a stable chocolate temperature is important. Therefore, the dosing pump and chocolate transfer pipes of the separate dosing circuit are water-heated.
The temperature of this circuit can be set separately, helping to keep the temperature of the already tempered chocolate as stable as possible while it is transferred to the dosing head.
This means that not only the tempering and dosing processes are controlled separately, but the temperature of the dosing circuit can also be adjusted to suit the application and the chocolate being used.
MT 80 GPE, GPE-L or GPI: choice of different dosing pumps and configurations
The MT 80 is available in different configurations for precise dosing. Depending on the application, you can choose between an externally mounted or integrated dosing pump and, for the GPE version, between a gear pump or lobe pump.
MT 80 GPE – externally mounted gear pump
In the GPE version, the separate dosing pump is mounted on top of the machine. This keeps the pump and its associated components easily accessible, which provides an important advantage during cleaning, inspection, maintenance and any required service work.
MT 80 GPE-L – lobe pump for chocolate with inclusions
As standard, the MT 80 GPE is equipped with a gear pump as the separate dosing pump. For applications where chocolate with inclusions needs to be processed, the GPE can optionally be equipped with a lobe pump. This version is designated as the MT 80 GPE-L.
The lobe pump makes it possible to pump and dose not only pure chocolate, but also chocolate containing small inclusions, such as nut pieces, in a controlled and precise manner. This makes the MT 80 GPE-L suitable for products where chocolate and small inclusions need to be dosed together in a controlled and precise manner.
An additional advantage is the quick-release front flange of the lobe pump. This provides easier access to the internal parts of the pump for cleaning, which is an important practical advantage, especially when processing chocolate with inclusions.
This allows the dosing pump of the MT 80 GPE to be tailored to the application: a gear pump as the standard configuration or a lobe pump for applications where easier access for cleaning and the dosing of chocolate with small inclusions are important.
MT 80 GPI – integrated dosing pump
In the GPI version, the separate dosing pump is integrated into the machine. This results in a clean, compact and fully integrated machine design, with the dosing components neatly housed within the machine structure.
The choice between GPE, GPE-L and GPI can therefore be tailored to the product, the required pump configuration, accessibility and the specific production environment.
Flexible dosing control for manual and automated production
The dosing pump does not have to be controlled exclusively via the touchscreen or a foot pedal. Depending on the application, a dosing command can also be triggered automatically by the machine control system or via an external signal.
This allows the MT 80 GPE/GPI to be synchronized with other machines and processes within a production line.
For example, an external moulding line can send a dosing command to the MT 80 as soon as a chocolate mold is positioned exactly in the correct location. The dosing pump then automatically performs the preset dose, after which the production process continues.
This capability makes the MT 80 GPE and GPI suitable for both simple manual dosing applications and fully automated production processes.
From hollow figures and chocolate molds to automated production lines
Thanks to their flexible dosing control, the MT 80 GPE and GPI can be used for a wide range of applications.
For the production of hollow chocolate figures, tempered chocolate can be dosed precisely into different cavities, while the four programmable quick-select options make it possible to switch quickly between different dosing quantities.
With the MT 80 GPE-L, the range of applications is further extended to chocolate with inclusions. Thanks to the lobe pump, small nut pieces, for example, can be pumped together with the tempered chocolate and dosed precisely.
The machine can also be integrated alongside an industrial moulding line. For example, a precisely dosed quantity of coloured chocolate can be applied to one or more specific areas of a chocolate bar mold before the actual chocolate shell is formed. Via an external signal, the dosing pump is synchronized precisely with the production line.
Another application is the automatic feeding of a one-shot dosing machine. When the chocolate level in the hopper of the one-shot machine drops, the MT 80 GPE/GPI can automatically refill it with tempered chocolate, while the main flow of the tempering process continues to circulate without interruption.
To prevent chocolate outside the required temperature parameters from being transferred to the next production stage, the MT 80 GPE and GPI are equipped as standard with adjustable temperature protection for the dosing process. If the temperature of the tempered chocolate deviates from the desired value by more than the preset tolerance, dosing is automatically blocked. As soon as the chocolate returns to within the permitted temperature range, the dosing process can resume.
In this way, the GPE/GPI can not only automatically supply a downstream machine with tempered chocolate, but also ensure that the chocolate is within the set temperature parameters before it is dosed.
From melting tank to cooling tunnel: one integrated chocolate production process
The MT 80 GPE and GPI can be connected to other Betec machines to combine different production stages into one automated process.
One possible configuration, for example, consists of a melting tank, MT 80 GPE/GPI, dosing head, automatic mold feeding system and cooling tunnel.
The melting tank automatically ensures that sufficient chocolate is available in the MT 80. The chocolate is then tempered and precisely dosed into the molds via the separate dosing pump. The conveyor line automatically feeds empty molds to the dosing head and then transports the filled molds to the cooling tunnel.
Because the different machines and control systems communicate with each other, the individual process stages can work together as one integrated production system. This reduces manual handling and makes it possible to create a compact yet highly automated chocolate production line.
Expansion and integration options for the MT 80 GPE/GPI
Depending on the product and the required level of automation, the MT 80 GPE/GPI can be combined with, among other things:
- custom-made dosing heads for polycarbonate molds;
- EAD (Easily Adjustable Dosing Head) with flexibly adjustable nozzles for different molds and cavities;
- automatic mold feeding systems and conveyor belts;
- melting tanks for automatic chocolate supply;
- one-shot dosing machines;
- cooling and mold cooling tunnels;
- vibrating tables;
- manual or automatic demolding systems;
- other machines and control systems within the chocolate production line.
This allows the same MT 80 GPE/GPI to evolve from a compact stand-alone tempering and dosing machine into a key component within an automated production line.
